London walks for students
Do you need an engaging and enlightening way of introducing new students to each other and to London? Are you looking to bring topics alive outside of the lecture theatre? Would an alternative form of field trip help fuel your research group?
Dotmaker Tours are a pleasurable and unexpected way to bring groups together while making creative discoveries and learning about pressing contemporary issues. All our tours explore particular themes through a rich interdisciplinary focus on London. They are designed to trigger insight and discussion between participants.
The tours are led by fully insured guides, Rosie Oliver and Cathy Haynes. A life-long Londoner, Rosie founded Dotmaker Tours in 2012. She also produces podcasts and audio features for Tickertape Productions. Rosie has a background as an environmental lawyer and lecturer. Cathy Haynes is an artist, writer and former Curator for Art on the Underground. Cathy leads A Genius Tour.

We just had an amazing tour with Rosie as part of a university student group I had brought to London for four days. We did “The London Ear” tour … Absolutely perfect for our group as we were exploring London from the perspective of nonverbal communication. Rosie was highly prepared and deeply researched – she really knew her stuff. She had the most fantastic energy and kept us engaged for some two and a half hours (in spite of the bitter cold). … I cannot recommend this tour more highly. Without doubt, I will be back with other groups and will do other Dotmaker tours.
Professor Crispin Thurlow, University of Bern, Switzerland
Our school is thrilled to have been going on guided walks with Rosie for several years now. Rose brings their STEM and history curriculum to life through her Environment of London walking tour where students get to see up close what they’ve been reading about for months. She has been so responsive to our thoughts and ideas to create a truly integrated and interactive learning experience for our students complete with hands on materials, engagement through question and answers and the ever important stop for hot chocolate. 11/10!
