Trafalgar Square skateboarders

London has been – and sounded – so very different under lockdown. I made this recording on a Friday afternoon reccie just as the restrictions were beginning to ease. It’s of Trafalgar Square – a tourist hotspot on a major traffic route through the West End. Unlike the usual pre-Covid din, there was scarcely a combustion engine to be heard (even though it was rush hour), nor commuters, tourists or buskers. Instead the place was full of skateboarders making some wonderfully rhythmic percussive sounds.
